We are the Lambeth boys
This documentary, although quite old, is a fantastic fly on the wall view into the lives of the boys in the Lambeth youth club.
Suits were worn casually, which is a practice considered alien in a modern British setting. It is fairly obvious the Lambeth boys were aware of the cameras presence, it is this that brings out the charm of certain members, and their clear intelligent grasp on society. One scene in which the boys were debating in a room whilst the camera is sat there really highlights this professionalism the boys portrayed themselves in. The documentary’s title suggests that this is a piece of film shot through their eyes, and it certainly delivered on that. It feels like I, as an audience member, has been transported to the 50s, which is great execution by the filmmakers.
